My boating
experience began in 1981 on a 12ft AMF Puffer, sailing the
lakes of Connecticut and the Long Island Sound. I gradually
moved up to a 16ft sloop and from there to a 26ft water-ballast
McGregor.
My wife Joanne and I attended Offshore Sailing School on Captiva
Island .
Florida
where we received a certificate for basic sailing and bareboat
chartering. In order to obtain more experience sailing on
larger vessels, we chartered in the British Virgin Islands.
After obtaining this experience and the excitement of sailing
larger vessels, we purchased a Hunter 340 and named her “Absolut”.
We sailed extensively in the waters of the Long Island Sound
from New York to Cape Cod and the Atlantic Ocean. Upon early
retirement and deciding to move the “Absolut”
to warmer waters, we sailed her to the Treasure Coast of Florida
where she is docked at the Fort Pierce City Marina.

After arriving in Florida, I successfully completed classes
at Sea School, received my Master diploma and went on to obtain
my U.S. Coast Guard license for U.S. Merchant Marine Officer.
